Spring Houseplant Care Checklist: 6 Things Your Plants Need Right Now
Spring has officially arrived—and your houseplants are feeling it. As days get longer and warmer, your indoor jungle is about to wake up from its winter nap. This is the best time to refresh your plant care routine and set your plants up for their best growing season yet.
We’ve put together a quick spring checklist to help you (and your plants) thrive.
✅ Your Spring Houseplant Checklist
1. Repot rootbound plants
Check for roots growing out of drainage holes or circling inside the pot. If they look cramped, it is probably time for a size upgrade.

2. Inspect for pests
Warmer weather = more pest activity. If you had plants bunched together for the winter, this might increase the chances of a pest issue. Give leaves and stems a quick once-over for unwanted guests like spider mites, thrips or mealybugs.
3. Refresh soil
Nutrients can get depleted over time. A soil refresh—or even a full change—can give your plant the boost it needs to thrive this growing season.
Aroid Soil, Husky Mix or our PD Funfetti Pon are great options to grow your plants in. PD Growing Mediums >>
4. Rotate your pots
Keep growth even by rotating your plants every few weeks so they don’t lean toward the light. Keep in mind the rotation of the sun and how this may impact the amount of natural sunlight your plants receive this time of year.
5. Wipe down leaves
Dust blocks light absorption. Wipe down your leaves with microfiber gloves so dust isn't getting in the way of photosynthesis!
6. Add support for new growth
Spring growth often comes in fast! Add a trellis or support stick so your climbing or vining plants can grow in style.
Arka Trellises are perfect for this—minimal, modern, and built to grow with your plant. Arka Trellises >>
